Advantages and Disadvantages of Mobile Technology Communication

Using mobile technology to communicate can be a lot easier than you think, but there are several things to keep in mind. First, mobile technology communication uses different methods, and each type of technology has its own benefits and disadvantages.

Wi-Fi

Whether your mobile device is a smart phone, a laptop, or a tablet, Wi-Fi can provide you with wireless connectivity to the internet. In fact, more than half of the traffic generated by wireless devices uses Wi-Fi.

It can also connect you to a local network, called an Ad-Hoc network. This is the most convenient method for wireless internet connectivity. It’s faster and more cost effective.

Another advantage of Wi-Fi is that it provides high-speed Internet access without any network loss. The network can span from a small room to a large area. Wi-Fi is ideal for data-intensive applications.

Bluetooth

Using Bluetooth wireless technology, you can communicate with a headset or cell phone without using cables. You can send pictures to a friend, or use your phone to make hands-free phone calls.

Bluetooth is used in a wide range of devices, from smartwatches and activity trackers to modems and laptops. Bluetooth technology is also used in hearing aids and robotics systems. It has also been integrated into mobile phones.

Bluetooth was first introduced in 1994 by Ericsson Mobile Communications. Ericsson was joined by IBM, Nokia and Toshiba. They formed the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. They published the first version of Bluetooth in 1999.

Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA)

CSMA is a technology used in wireless communications networks to determine when to start sending data over a shared medium. This technology uses different algorithms to determine when to transmit, reducing the chance of collision with other transmitters.

CSMA has four different access modes. These include: non-persistent, persistent, ALOHA, and p-persistent. Each of these has its own benefits and disadvantages. For example, p-persistent CSMA has an increased overhead because it has to wait for a period of time to transmit. However, it also reduces the chance of collision.

Non-persistent CSMA is the same as a normal CSMA protocol, except that it does not attempt to sense the medium. Instead, it waits for a period of time before checking. This procedure reduces the chance of collision and improves the throughput of the medium.

Multi-user MIMO

MU-MIMO mobile technology communication improves the overall efficiency of wireless connections by leveraging multiple users as spatially distributed transmission resources. It can be used to boost the capacity of cellular systems, improve data rates, and reduce network congestion.

In current cellular networks, each cell has one or two users. However, data-hungry devices are growing through BYOD policies and IoT. Developing advanced base station hardware is becoming more difficult. In order to handle future data traffic growth, spatial multiplexing is needed.

However, deploying many more base stations is not an option. The existing network will not support more users. This can result in slower download speeds and jerky video streams.

Target Wakeup Time (TWT)

Adding a Target Wakeup Time (TWT) to an access point (AP) can significantly reduce battery power. It also allows devices to enter a sleep mode for a predetermined period of time, which improves battery life. It also reduces the number of competing devices for radio resources. This can be a boon to the intelligent machine, smart water meter, door control device, and warehousing code scanning devices, among others.

There are two main types of TWTs. The first is an uplink TWT, which requires the station to transmit. The other is a downlink TWT, which requires the receiver to be awake to send data.

Impact on face-to-face communication

Several studies have shown that cell phones have an impact on face to face communication. However, the effects are largely dependent on the cell phone, the user, and the context.

There are two main approaches to quantifying the impact of cell phones on face to face interactions. One is to take a look at the effects of cell phone use as a function of time. The other is to use qualitative data collected via field observations.

The impact of cell phones on face to face communication can be attributed to a number of factors, such as convenience, the ability to access information, and the ability to maintain social networks. The effects of cell phones on face to face interaction are often accompanied by social norms dictating when and how people should respond to incoming texts, emails, and phone calls.

Disadvantages

Using mobile phones can be a convenient tool, but they also come with disadvantages. Some of these are not easily controlled, so you should take steps to avoid them.

One disadvantage of using a mobile phone is that it can cause distractions. For example, if you’re in a meeting, you may not be able to concentrate if you are constantly checking your phone. Similarly, you may miss important asks and requests.

Using a mobile phone while driving can also be dangerous. One study found that 32 percent of men and 25 percent of women were distracted while driving because of hand-held communication devices. This could lead to accidents and deaths.
